Adidas Climachill Polo

The Coolest Golf Polo on the Market

By David Theoret

For those of you not familiar with the brand - if that is at all possible - Adidas was founded in 1949 by Adolf Dassler, following the split of the company he and his brother Rudolph created: Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik. Rudolf set about to take market share away from his brother by creating Puma, while Adolph continued on with Adidas. Both companies are currently based in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The company is trademarked by three parallel stripes.

Adidas Golf is part of Adidas, a German-based sports clothing manufacturer and part of the Adidas Group, which consists of the Reebok Sportswear Company, TaylorMade-Adidas Golf Company, and Rockport. Adidas Golf sells and manufactures Adidas-brand golf clothing, footwear, and accessories. In 1999, TaylorMade and AdidasGolf USA, were merged into a new company-called TaylorMade-Adidas Golf-with world headquarters in Carlsbad.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Adidas would be the official outfitter of the USA Golf Team for the 2016 Olympics. The playing members will receive layering pieces, polos, outwear and pants designed and engineered to the highest levels of innovation the brand has ever seen. Adidas Golf's design team in Carlsbad, CA is utilizing new manufacturing and construction techniques to create the most innovative performance golf apparel, precision engineered to maximize the performance of each athlete representing the United States at the Games.

One of their most impressive golf apparel pieces is the Climachill polo. It's a fabric that is engineered with the most advanced, best-wicking, warm weather technology that helps regulate body temperatures. The refined style and superior breathability in the Climachill" Polo will keep you cool on the hottest of days.

The technology behind the Climachill system is a meshlike fabric of silver aluminum dots that conduct heat away from the body and create a cooling sensation when they come in contact with the skin. These aluminum dots are strategically located inside the back of the neck which is one of the warmest areas of the human body. The Climachill fabric has tiny titanium dots woven into it in order to create maximum surface contact with the skin. It is 100% polyester and is unbelievably light; it draws heat away from the body and allows for maximum ventilation and the evaporation of sweat to keep golfers extra cool.

The Climachill Polo features a three-button placket and features an anti-roll, rib knit collar, open-hem sleeves, A Climachill logo on the back and the trademark triple slash Adidas trademark on the right arm.

I found the new Adidas Climachill polo exactly as advertised. I recently played a round in 95 degree Florida weather and found that the aluminum dots in the fabric produced a cooling effect on the back of my neck making me feel unbelievable cool. The material is very lightweight and the sizing is such that it is not restrictive on the golf swing. Sweat doesn't show through on the shit and it is also odor-free which I'm sure my playing partners appreciated on the way home.

Adidas Golf Climachill Polos are available at most big box golf retailers. The collection includes five men's polos and three women's polos. MSRP on these shirts is around $80 but seeing it's the end of the season, you can find them online for about half that. About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
