Royal and Awesome Golf Apparel Review

Royal and Awesome Golf Apparel Review

Unique and Flashy Golf Gear

By David Theoret

Are you tired of golf apparel that blends in with everyone else on the course? Did you show up to play only to find out that two of your buddies are wearing basically the same thing and now you feel like the Bobbsey twins (OK, triplets)? Well there's a simple fix for that and it's called Royal and Awesome.

Royal and Awesome is based in the UK and are fairly popular in their homeland. They have warehouses in the UK, USA and Australia and, thanks to the worldwide web, they can be in your mailbox before you know it. The fabric used in creating these colorful men's and women's garments is a high quality cotton/polyester blend (97%/3%) that is very comfortable and flattering. Their apparel is not only highly visible, it's also breathable, comfortable and durable.

All Royal and Awesome men's and women's bottoms have a couple of unique features. First of all are the tee loops above the right pocket, designed to make your tees easily accessible. There's also a multi-purpose tool attached to each garment that is three tools in one: a divot repair tool, ball marker and bottle opener. Leave it to the Scots!

There are about 18 different designs that make up the entire apparel line for Royal and Awesome; nearly all are available for both men and women in the form of pants, shorts, skorts or knickers (visit their website www.royalandawesome.com for more details). A couple of the more eye-catching designs are Old Tom's Trews, a classic diamond pattern that is a brilliant light blue color and sure to turn some heads on the course. The Paddy Par design is loud and funky; a green, black and white shamrock pattern that will certainly draw some stares. They are best suited for short men with red beard, if you get my drift (just kidding).

The Well Plaid Tartan is one of my favorites. This red, green and white tartan pattern brings a traditional plaid design to life and the colors are easily paired with a solid colored top.

Speaking of tops, Royal and Awesome's line of polos is limited in color selection to red, white and blue; a lighter blue, not Navy. The good news is that this color palette blends well with their lineup of pants, shorts and skorts. After all, plaid pants don't look right with a striped (or floral) print polo, although some have tried to pull it off.

Guys, Royal & Awesome bottoms fit true to size. If you're usually a 34 - buy a 34; if you are ever in doubt, go one size larger. That's what belts are for! For the ladies, each style (pants, shorts and skorts) has its own size guide which shows you how to measure yourself and then which size to order. If in doubt get the bigger size. If you're really in doubt, use the SWAG method (Sophisticated Wild Ass Guess), and, if you're wrong, simply send it back and they'll exchange it.

Most of the patterns are also available in a flat cap, you know, the hats worn in the days of Old Tom Morris and, more recently by Payne Stewart. At only $29.99, they are a great accompaniment to those pants you just ordered. After all, if you ain't got game, you may as well look good.

Royal and Awesome's prices are lower than I expected; under $75 for a pair of men's pants and $60 for a pair of shorts. Women only pay $52 for pants and $42 for shorts or skorts. That's quite a savings over companies with similar apparel. And free delivery is included.

No matter what the event; you'll always be noticed wearing Royal and Awesome apparel. And that's not always a bad thing. For more information or to order some apparel for yourself or as a gift, visit the website at www.royalandawesome.com.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
