Getting To Know: Sycamore Creek Golf Club

An Insightful Interview With Danna Kahrs, General Manager

By Brian Weis

Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Danna Kahrs who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.

Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
Sycamore Creek is built in a beautiful Ozark valley, in and among the ponds of a working fish hatchery. With the design of the course the owners were able to use the land to it's best, and still leave many areas of mature trees and forest that provide safe haven to a host of wildlife. Wildlife that has become accustom to golfers and are not afraid to be seen, adding a different element to your round than you will find at a city course.

If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
The course Superintendent and his crew take great personal pride in the golf course, and the product they produce each day for the golfers. This is not just a job for them, this is their reputation being put before you, every time you come to play. I know if you visit Sycamore Creek, you will be glad you did, and ready to come back again and again.

What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
Sycamore Creek is not a golf course to bring out a driver on every tee. Placement is much more important than going for total distance. Keep it in the middle and your score will reflect your patience.

What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
Hole 18 is arguably the toughest par five at the Lake. Do not be intimidated off the tee by the water, this is the least of your worries. Keep your second shot in the fairway at all costs. As you approach the green, just keep the ball below the hole. Take a par and call it done!

Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole?
The hotdogs at Sycamore Creek are known to be the best! We have people who are not even playing golf, stop by for a quick lunch just to get a hotdog. Farmlands best, and a quarter pound, this is what a golf course hot dog is supposed to be!

In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born.
