SwingDish Women's Golf Apparel

Tricia Covel discovered the game of golf several years ago while filling the role of General Manager at the Belmar Golf Course in Norman, OK; a course that she owns with her country music star husband Toby Keith.

Being a golf course GM gave her a front row seat to see what types of apparel the women golfers were wearing at her course. One of the first things she noticed was a lack of really attractive golf apparel for women. Most of it looked like shrunken down versions of men's apparel lines, giving women somewhat of a masculine look. She felt that what the industry lacked was a performance fabric with good moisture wicking capabilities, significant SPF protection, a good fit and a luxurious feel. In other words, a fabric that had it all, and oh by the way was affordable too.

As her golf game improved - which it did rather quickly, playing at least 18 holes a day - so did her desire to create a line of luxury women's golf apparel. After enlisting (i.e. employing) daughters Krystal & Shelley and Tifanja, an Ohio based creative agency, SwingDish was up and running.
The name SwingDish has an interesting storyline to it. Tricia's husband, band and crew often referred to her as "Trish the Dish." Even her golf tournament is called the Dish. When she first started playing golf, she was very shy about her limited ability even going so far as to make the course workers look the other way - a privilege of course ownership I guess. Toby would tell her, "Just get up there and swing it, Dish!" When she started looking for a name, Keith was very adamant that she play off of that theme and the name SwingDish was born. In the end, Keith said that he loves the name SwingDish, feeling that the brand will have a broader appeal without such a "girly name."
