Kevan Hall Sport Review

Fashion Meets Function

By David Theoret

Beth DePass is an attorney by trade and a successful real estate investor. As she was playing golf one day, something struck her: if she looked better on the golf course, she would definitely feel better and most likely play better.

Shortly after Hurricane Katrina hit, Beth and her family were living in Boca Raton, FL. She was playing more golf and once again started thinking about looking better on the course. Although she was determined to do something about it, life got in the way and she never followed up on it until 2012.

Kevan Hall himself needs no introduction; he is a heavyweight in the fashion world. He has served as Design and Creative Director at Halston and has won various annual awards. He has made guest appearances on numerous national TV shows including Inside Edition, Extreme Makeover, The Better Half, SoapTalk, the Jane Pauley Show, The Fashion Team and E! Fashion Police. Hall has also dressed many of Hollywood's most beautiful women.

Beth had met Kevan Hall through a mutual friend and decided to approach him about creating a women's golf apparel line. Like DePass, Hall realizes that women want to make a fashion statement on the golf course and, that when it comes to women's golf apparel, there's a need to create garments that are chic, colorful and don't require a lot of "maintenance." So, to make a long story short, the two reached an agreement, Kevan Hall Sport was born and introduced last January in Orlando FL at the 2016 PGA Merchandise show.

The Kevan Hall Sport collection can best be described as a collection that transitions seamlessly from the golf course to the clubhouse; in fact, their tagline is "From the Runway to the Fairway." The golf apparel line is produced in Los Angeles and Beth frequently participates in the entire production process. Hall's exclusive prints are the highlight of the collection, which includes dresses, skirts, shorts, pants and jackets. All of the fabrics feature top-of-the-line UV protection and moisture wicking properties. We were fortunate to take a look at several pieces and here's what we liked:

The Yoke Top Polo Dress features a knit ribbed polo color that is highlighted with the other colors in the dress including a blue stripe. The leopard print on the hem and shoulders form borders around the colorblock which is highlighted with a light blue color that matches the color and creates a slimming silhouette. A zippered placket allows you to go from fun to fashionable and there's two pockets in front to stash your stuff too. Several washes and wears and this dress looks like it just came off the shelf! The Yoke Top Polo Dress is available in sizes XS - L and in several different colors and fabrics including a couple of Dri-Tex, Athletic Meshes and Abstract Prints. Retail price is $140.

The Long Sleeve Patchwork Polo is the perfect cold weather garment to keep you warm and in style as you make your way down the fairway. The patchwork fabric design is highlighted in black, blue and turquoise colors and the black double stitching around the collar and cuffs creates a nice little contrast. A zippered placket with blue zipper blends in nicely with the rest of the garment and allows you to keep the cold air out or let it in depending on the weather. The Long Sleeve Patchwork Polo is available in sizes XS - L and in the Patchwork fabric. Retail price is $110.00

The Kevan Hall Golf Capri Pants are simply amazing. These pants seem to make the shortest of legs appear longer If that's possible. At 5'2", my wife is somewhat vertically challenged and she fell in love with these pants immediately. She says they are form fitting, comfy and roomy all at the same time. You might wonder how it's possible to say "form fitting and roomy" about the same pair of pants but Kevan Hall has pulled it off with these capris; the look and feel of the fabric would seem to make for the perfect golf capris and a definite must have for any golfing gal looking for fashion and comfort.

From the look - and feel - of these garments, Kevan Hal Sport is a company that will be a factor in the golf fashion industry. They definitely have the firepower in both the name behind the product and the woman at the helm. Look for big things from Kevan Hall Sport down the road. About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
