FootJoy Spring 2016 Golf Apparel

A Classic Look Never Goes Out of Style

By David Theoret

There's a reason FootJoy apparel is won by a number of PGA Tour players. In fact, according to their website, about 1 out of 3 of the top 100 touring pros sport the FootJoy brand of golf apparel in one way or another. To me, the FootJoy brand is the classiest brand of golf attire there is. The brand seems to breed confidence and inspire all who wear it. Plus, these are some good looking clothes!

Take the Lisle Feeder Stripe Knit Collar Polo. This high tech golf polo is made from FJ's ProDry Stretch Performance material which wicks moisture away from the body quickly and regulates body temperature keeping you cool and dry. Three's also UV sun protection built in and an antimicrobial finish to keep you smelling fresh. The stretch of the fabric moves with you throughout the golf swing with no pinching or binding and the locked stitched hem provides extra reinforcement. Seams are double stitched for added durability and the extra-long shirt tail helps keep this polo tucked in at all times. The FJ logo is embroidered on the yoke of the neck to remind your playing partners of your preferred brand. Guys will love it because it's easy to care for and the fabric won't wrinkle or shrink. The Lisle Feeder Striped Knit Collar Polo is available for men is sizes S-XXL and in 11 color combos. It's a polo worn on the Tour by players like Jimmy Walker and Steve Stricker. Retail price is $68.

The Lisle Feeder Striped Knit Collar Polo pairs well with a pair of FJ Flat Front Shorts. These shorts are made from FootJoy's four-way stretch fabric which provides extreme comfort and allows for full range of motion throughout your swing with no pinching or binding. A buttoned closure and zip fly combined with a 10" inseam provide a professional look and will let those around know that you mean business. The two front pockets are deep and the back pockets will accommodate even large scorecards. The FootJoy Flat Front Shorts are available in sizes 30-42 and in 8 colors. Retail price is $75.

Now that you've selected your favorite FJ polo and shorts, you'll need something to keep them britches up. Check out the FJ Buckle Belt, which is crafted from genuine leather in rich colors of Black, White and Blue. The brushed aluminum buckle has the FJ logo and the blue belt has a "faux alligator" texture and gives a real classy look to any golf outfit. The FJ Buckle Belt is available in waist sizes 34-42 and retails for $75.

Not all golf is played in perfect weather - although it should be. When the skies open up, you'll want something to keep you dry and the FJ HydroLite Rain Jacket is the perfect solution. In fact, FootJoy warrants that this jacket will be 100% waterproof in normal use for two years. The HydroLite system is a waterproof shell that combines lightweight fabrics with a bonded liner, a waterproof zipper and sealed seems for complete waterproofing. The four-way stretch in the fabric ensures extreme comfort and allows for complete range of motion. There's also a scorecard pocket that's easy to get any size card in and out of. The HydroLite Rain Jacket is available in sizes S-XXL and in four color combinations: Nautical Blue/Lime/Black, Steel Gray Check/Orange/Black, Black/White and Navy/Black/gray. Retail price is $170.

FootJoy hasn't forgotten about the ladies either. In fact, they will begin offering a full lineup of ladies' apparel in Fall 2016. For now, women can choose from polos, mid-layer pieces and outerwear. If you play in the wet stuff, then the DryJoys Rain Jacket is just what the doctor - or weatherman - ordered. The Sta-Dry System starts with a lightweight, waterproof shell that is also windproof and comfortable. The full-length waterproof zipper makes this jacket easy to get on and off and the sealed seams keep the elements out. It carries the same two-year warranty as the Men's HydroLite Rain Jacket. The women's DryJoys Rain Jacket is available in sizes XS-XL and in Black trimmed with White. Retail price is $170.

On those days that you have an early tee time, it's cool out, but will be warming up during your round, you'll need what's referred to as a mid-layer. FootJoy's Sport Mid Layer for Women is a very versatile piece that is stylish and will have you looking good when things cool down. It offers great UPF protection from the sun's harmful rays and has an antimicrobial finish that inhibits odor build-up. The Sport Mid Layer is available in sizes XS-XL and in three color combinations: Purple/Heather Grey, Heather Grey/Berry and White/Aqua. Retail price is $80.

Women should also consider one of FootJoy's sleeveless polos on those hot summer days. The ProDry Interlock Sleeveless Shirt Knit Collar Polo offers extreme comfort and performance to keep you cool and dry with its moisture-wicking technology. The antimicrobial finish keeps you smelling good too and seams are double stitched for extra reinforcement. It's made from an east to care for fabric that won't shrink and resists wrinkling. The ProDry Interlock Sleeveless Shirt Knit Collar Polo is available in sizes XS-XL and in six colors: White, Black, Hot Pink, Navy, Aqua and Light Blue. Retail price is $60.

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
