Lizzie Driver Golf Review

Driving Golf Fashion On and Off the Course

By David Theoret

In 2011, two friends - Karen Preston and Lorrie Forgatch - had a vision: to develop a line of women's apparel that functions as well on the fairway as it does at meetings, social events or just about any other activity in a busy woman's life.

Today, the Lizzie Driver line caters to women on the north side of 40 and dispels the notion that golf apparel is not beautiful. In this era of disposable fashion apparel that is typically manufactured overseas, Lizzie Driver offers finely crafted tops, bottoms, dresses, sweaters and jackets; the majority of which are made in downtown Los Angeles.

The American Girl Skort is Lizzie Driver's signature piece. This fitted skort features shape-flattering double seams in both the front and back; two diagonally cut front pockets that are deep enough to keep your valuables safe and secure and two welted back pockets. The 69/24/7% Polyester/Rayon/Spandex blend will not bind or pinch during any phase of the golf swing. With the built-in "modesty shorts" you can feel confident as you go to retrieve your birdie putt. The American Girl Skort is available in sizes 0-16 and in a blue/pink/white plaid. This Made in America garment has a retail price of $136. The American Girl Skort pairs well with the Admiral ¾ Sleeve Polo.

The Admiral ¾-Sleeve Polo provides added protection from the sun's harmful rays and keeps you warm in cooler weather. This 94/6% Rayon/Lycra blend moves with you through the golf swing with no pinching or binding and the V-neck collar with a two button placket gives this polo a sleek look. Whether you're at the links or in the lounge, you'll look equally as stylish. The Admiral 3/4-Sleeve Polo is available in sizes XS-XL and in Periwinkle Blue. Retail price is $110.

Another popular skort in the Lizzie Driver Collection is the Redeemer Skort. It's popular because the74/23/3% Rayon/Nylon/Spandex blend is made to fit basically any shape and size and gives the ladies a nice tailored look with mega-stretch built in. It features 6 faux-buttons on the front which help create a slimming effect and two back pockets that will accommodate just about any size scorecard. The 18" length is very moderate, however if that is too much coverage, it's also available in a 15.5" length. Both have an embroidered Lizzie Driver logo above the back right pocket. The Redeemer Skort is so comfortable, you'll want to wear it from morning into the late night. And you can; it's perfect for the course and going out on the town afterwards. The Redeemer Skort is available in white in sizes 00-16 and has a price tag of $136.

In the event you find yourself in gusty conditions, Lizzie Driver's Santa Ana Wind Pants provide protection from these adverse conditions. They're crafted from a stretch-woven fabric that is a 97/3% Cotton/Spandex fabric and features front slant hip pockets and two welted back pockets, with enough room for scorecards, tees, or anything else necessary on the course. The Santa Ana Wind Pants are cropped; the legs are tapered to a cuffed hem with pink and white stripes on the inside. The Lizzie Driver logo is proudly displayed above the right rear pocket. These white pants are available in sizes 00-16 and are part of the Core Collection. Retail price is $150.

If you're looking for a summer polo that will keep you cool, then look no further than the Fireworks Sleeveless Polo, a garment that adds class and style to any golf game - good or bad. The super stretchy 93/7% MicroModal/Lycra blend moves with you throughout the entire golf swing without pinching or binding. It has superior moisture-wicking properties, is extremely lightweight and silky smooth to the touch. A flattering V-neckline gives way to a two-button placket with custom Lizzie Driver buttons. The Fireworks Polo offers a clean, feminine fit and will compliment just about any golf outfit. It's also perfect for casual Friday at the office. The Fireworks Sleeveless Polo is available in sizes XS-XL and in a Blue and White print. Retail price is $98 however as part of Lizzie Driver's current FIREWORS Promotion, the polo is free with a $200 merchandise purchase.

Should you find the weather a little chilly and you're in need of that extra layer, the Dutch Blue Quilted Vest is a great choice. This ultra-lightweight piece adds the perfect degree of warmth and the zipper allows you to let more weather in as things warm up. The two zippered front pockets are big enough to stick your hands in and keep them warm too; or you can put golf stuff in them. It's 100% Polyester and easy to care for; just wash it in cold water and tumble dry on low. It folds up neatly and fits nicely into your golf bag for future rounds. The Dutch Blue Quilted Vest is available in sizes XS-XL and retails for $150.
In the event you have somewhere important - or dressy - to visit after your round, consider the Legendary Blazer. This grey blazer is crafted from Lizzie Driver's Ponte di Roma fabric with a soft, luxurious feel and added stretch. It features a single-button closure in the front, 3-button vented closures at the wrists, and 2 front pockets with white flaps; there's also a vent in the back for a better, more relaxed fit. It's perfect for heading back to the office after a quick round. The Legendary Blazer is available in sizes XS-XL and retails for $180.

No matter what the occasion, Lizzie Driver has the fashions to make you look good on the course, off the course or in the office. Lizzie Driver apparel is distributed by over 300 shops throughout the USA as well as in several international markets. These two gals are creative; after all the name Lizzie Driver comes from a middle name they both share (Elizabeth) and the golf club that hits the ball the farthest. I wonder if the driver is their favorite club?

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
