Golf Course Information
Description
Forest Dunes Golf Club is a course that should be on any serious golfer's Bucket List.
Nestled on 500 acres of heavily wooded land within the Huron National Forest, Forest Dunes has become one of the country's most peaceful and exciting golf experiences.
In this pristine setting, British Open Champion Tom Weiskopf designed a parkland-style classic with modern enhancements.
"Forest Dunes replicates classic style and emulates a risk/reward involvement on most every hole," Weiskopf said. "I consider this golf course to be in the top three which I have ever been involved in the United States."
Forest Dunes features a number of intriguing challenges including wide open meadows, hardwoods, century old red and jack pines, rugged native dunes, scruffy sand areas and water features. The front nine at Forest Dunes highlights parkland style holes meandering through corridors of red and jack pines, with elaborate bunkering and sandy waste areas on the sidelines.
The back nine brings to mind Pine Valley with exposed rugged native sand areas and scruffy underbrush crossing and bordering fairways and greens. The finishing holes will thrill and leave golfers with vast memories - beginning with the par-three 16th, which measures over 200 yards and requires a challenging carry over a rugged dune area.
Weiskopf is known for designing memorable short par-four holes and No. 17 might be one of his best. Measuring just 302-yards, the hole flows naturally through dramatic native sand dunes framed by fescue grasses and offers a number of ways to be challenged. The finishing hole measures over 560 yards and plays out through a rugged dune area with a beautiful lake guarding the left side up and around the dramatic green site.
Prior to your round, golfers have access to one of the game's top practice facilities featuring a double-ended driving range with carved out fairways and practice greens, a premier short game area, practice putting green and practice bunker.
Forest Dunes features an Adirondack-style clubhouse with a golf shop, locker rooms, exercise facility and day spa, along with dining in Sangomore's Restaurant.
New for 2013, the Lake AuSable Lodge features 14 well-appointed lodge rooms and suites overlooking beautiful Lake AuSable and the golf course. Rooms feature the finest in modern comfort, décor and fixtures, including flat screen televisions, wireless Internet and private patios or balconies.
A variety of Stay & Play Packages, which include golf, lodging and breakfast, are now available. Whether you are looking for 18, 36 or 54 holes, one-night stays or multiple-night options, Forest Dunes offers plenty of customizable packages for any size group.

Lodging Options
Forest Dunes offers one of the most convenient options in a golf package. With the opening of the new Lake AuSable Lodge, golfers will be just 35 yards away from their opening tee shot.
Opened in spring 2013, the Lake AuSable Lodge features 14 luxury rooms and suites. The new lodge and our six beautiful cottages provide golfers many options to accommodate any sized group.
Located just steps from the clubhouse and all its amenities, the new Lake AuSable Lodge reflects the same Adirondack architectural theme as the nearby golf clubhouse, using hardwoods, cedar shake siding and stone on the exterior. The rooms inside offer both king and double-queen configurations that can be joined to become a suite. The second level features a pair of beautiful two-bedroom suites that can accommodate larger groups. Rooms will feature the finest in modern comfort, décor and fixtures, including flat screen televisions, wireless Internet and private patios or balconies.
The Buck and Whitetail cottages are situated right along the shores of Lake AuSable, with the Pines right across the street. Golfers can view the Dunes, Eagle and Forest cottages while hitting their second shots on the seventh hole.
The cottages range between two and four bedrooms and come furnished with linens, towels, dishes, cookware, a gas grill, satellite television and wireless Internet.
A variety of Stay & Play Packages, which include golf, lodging and breakfast, are now available. Whether you are looking for 18, 36 or 54 holes, one-night stays or multiple-night options, Forest Dunes offers plenty of customizable options for any size group.
Upon request, we will build a customized package for your group to create the ultimate getaway. Let us know your desired nights of lodging and rounds of golf, plus any additional meal options or merchandise keepsakes you would like included, and we will provide a per person price for your event.
