Description

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is surrounded by perhaps the most beautiful woods in western Kentucky. Named for the tiny Pennyroyal plan found in the area, the park is the perfect back-to-nature hideaway in the midst of a secluded, lush forest.

Pennyrile Forest State Park Golf Course was expanded to a full 18-holes in 2003. This rural course lies at the bottom of a small valley surrounded by rolling hills. The course is flat with a creek running through the middle and water comes into play on every hole of the front nine.

The new nine plays over gently rolling hills and through a pine forest. The greens are soft and will hold a shot. The rough along the fairways is deep so stay on the fairway if you want to keep your score down. Hole #3, a 499-yard, par 5, requires a tee shot from a narrow chute with woods on the left side and the creek on the right.

The fairway slopes toward the water hazard so hitting your tee shot straight is a necessity. Another creek must be crossed before you reach the green, which is severely slope.

Driving Directions

From Hopkinsville take hwy. 109 and travel 22 miles to the main entrance. Turn left and travel apx. two miles to the park entrance on hwy. 398. Follow the signs to the golf course.
From interstate 69[exit 92] travel south to hwy. 62 [Dairy Queen] and turn right onto hwy 62. Travel 3/4 mi. to the four way stop then turn left onto hwy. 109. and travel apx. eight miles to the main park entrance. Take hwy. 398 to the park entrance and follow the signs.

PENNYRILE LODGE
The rustic wood and stone Pennyrile Lodge, with 24 rooms, sits serenely on a high cliff overlooking Pennyrile Lake. Open year-round. Rooms available by late afternoon. Check-out by noon, Central Time. Pets are allowed in certain rooms and cabins. Consult with the lodge ahead of time if you are bringing a pet

COTTAGES
The park has 13 cottages located in the wooded lodge area and on the shores of Pennyrile Lake. The one and two-bedroom cottages have unique features, offering wooded or lake views, and such amenities as private boat and fishing docks, fireplaces, or screened-in porches. Tableware, cooking utensils, and linens are provided, with fresh linens available daily.Open year-round. Cottages available by late afternoon. Check-out by 11:00 AM, Central Time. Pets are not allowed (with the exception of service dogs).

CLIFTY CREEK RESTAURANT
Sit back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings while checking the new menu, which features traditional Kentucky cuisine, such as, country fried chicken, farm raised catfish and the famous hot brown. Some of the restaurant specialties include Smoked Baby back ribs, grilled catfish, pastas and more, plus homemade fried apple pie. Pennyrile features a deluxe, complimentary continental breakfast that is available in the restaurant from 7AM until 10AM daily. Selections include biscuits & gravy, cheese omelets, waffles, muffins, Danish, toast, cereal, juice, milk and coffee. The restaurant seats 200, including a private dining room for up to 80. As a supporter of Kentucky Proud program we utilize locally grown meats and produce when available. Food operations manager, Lori Larkins, will gladly answer any of your questions concerning the dining room.
