Erin Hills Spring Specials
Host of the 2017 US Open
By Dan Biedenbender
Set over the undulating terrain of Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine region, Erin Hills will provide a natural challenge to the world's best golfers when in 2017 it hosts the first U.S. Open to be played in Wisconsin. Mike Davis, the Executive Director of the United States Golf Association, said "I compare Erin Hills to some of the great U.S. Open sites, like Shinnecock, like Pebble Beach, like Oakmont. This stands up with all of them. I really believe that." Opened in 2006, Erin Hills' brief history has already been filled with national championship. In 2008 Erin Hills hosted the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and in 2011 hosted the first U.S. Amateur to be contested in Wisconsin.
Located 35 miles from downtown Milwaukee, 60 miles from Kohler and 120 miles from Chicago, Erin Hills offers a variety of onsite lodging options, ranging from guest cottages to individual rooms and suites. Championship golf, comfortable accommodations and memorable dining combine to make Erin Hills a premier Midwest golf destination and a must-play for the serious golfer.
