Getting To Know: Snow Snake Ski & Golf

An Insightful Interview With Kalysta Cleary, Assistant Marketing Director

By Brian Weis

Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Kalysta Cleary who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.

Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
Snow Snake is a beautiful golf course, tucked away in the challenging terrain of Central Michigan. With changing elevation, undulating green, and tree lined fairways, Snow Snake is sure to challenge any golfer!

If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
Snow Snake is one of Central Michigan's premier golf courses. No where in the area can you find a course in such great condition, as beautiful, and as affordable. Additionally, Snow Snake can compete with Michigan's northern courses, but with a location much closer to home.

What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
Don't be fooled by the yardage, Snow Snake is no walk in the park (although it might be as scenic!). On some holes, don't be afraid to keep your driver in the bag! You might find during your round that it's not the longest hitter that will score well, but instead the most accurate. Keep it in the fairway and you'll be good to go.

Recent Awards or What You Are Most Proud About The Course?
Golf Digest rates Snow Snake a 4 Star Course.

What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
Snow Snake's signature hole would have to be number four. With a green guarded by a deep valley in the front and lined with boulders along the back - topped with luscious flowers, it's easy to see why number four is the most photographed hole. Not to mention that being the number three handicap hole on the course makes it a frequent post-round topic of conversation.

What Is Your Favorite Hole? Any Tips to Play It?
My favorite hole is number 16, without a question. The elevated tee box sets you up for a great view of the hole, and hopefully of a great tee shot. This is a more forgiving hole, so don't be afraid to really rip it! The hole slopes right to left, so hit your drive to the right side, just not in the fairway bunker! With the approach shot, aim for the right side of the green, too - and pray for a front pin placement.

Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole?
Our bar is fully stocked with beer, wine, and liquor. After a great day on the course, we serve a mean cheeseburger with all the fixings. Also tasty on the menu is our Italian sub. Paired with one our of many beers available, you'll leave Snow Snake fully satisfied, and ready to come right back!
