Insights From An Insider With Jeremiah Hoffmann, Head Golf Professional

Local and traveling golfers love to research courses before playing them, whether it is to gain some local knowledge or to set an expectation before their upcoming round. Below is an interview with Jeremiah Hoffmann who shares some valuable insight about the property, its most talked about holes and the signature dish/drink to consume at the 19th hole.

How Does Your Course Differ From The Others In The Area?
We have 27 holes. The extra 9 allows us to accommodate daily players, outings and leagues. The golf course is always in great shape too.

For someone who has not played the course in awhile, has there been any new changes/renovations to the course or property?
If you haven't played at Rolling Meadows since the early 90's, you are in for a treat. We expanded from 18 to 27 in 1996, with basically a total redesign. Since then we have added mounding, improved bunkers, a new practice area and we continually look at tees that need to be improved.

What is your course's answer to Amen Corner? (Describe your best/hardest 3 back/back/back holes)
Holes 25, 26 and 27. All three are classic risk/reward holes. They give the golfer the opportunity to challenge water hazards and make decisions on how aggressive to be. 25 is a par 4 that requires a good drive so you have a manageable shot into a well protected green. Hole 26 is a down hill par 5. A great drive will force you to decide whether or not to go for it in two. The green is protected by water right and OB left. Hole 27 is a par 4. Hole 27 is all about the drive. If you put the drive in play, the second shot is much easier. A dogleg left with water on the right and large mounds on the left makes an intimidating tee shot. If you are brave, play it from the tips and 447 yards! It is a great finishing hole. The key to playing these holes well is being aggressive in your execution. Any indecision will likely find a hazard. It is also important to know what the wind is doing. A small change in wind direction can make each of these holes play very differently. Finish holes 19-27 with 3 pars and you have accomplished something!

What is your course's claim to fame, or is there a little known fact that golfers should know about the property?
We are a county owned facility that is always in great shape. The facility used to be the county farm, so our clubhouse is a remodeled barn.

What tournaments/events have you (recently) hosted or will be hosting?
We hosted the WSGA Fourball Championship in 2012-2013. We are in the 3 year rotation for the WPLA 36 Hole Championship. We are regularly selected for WIAA Regionals and Sectionals. We also have a great schedule of our own local events.

Besides golf, what other amenities do you offer if a golfer wants to spend most of the day at your facility?
The 28th hole offers great drinks and are famous for their burgers. We also have a great practice facility, including a chipping green, a large driving range and a practice hole!
