Turf Riders at Westin Kierland

Westin Kierland Golf Club Unveils New TurfRiders

By Brian Weis

With innovation as its hallmark, The Westin Kierland Golf Club recently unveiled yet another fun way to enjoy its 27 holes with the launch of their new TurfRiders. With their golf bag secured to the back of the two-wheeled TurfRider, a golfer can cruise around the Westin Kierland Golf Club, both on and off cart paths, with the freedom, speed and fun of a motorcycle.

The TurfRider's light weight design and large, turf-friendly tires allows fairways to remain in pristine condition. In addition to adding an extra element of fun, the battery-powered TurfRiders also add speed to the game with an 18 mph setting recommended for getting around the course and climbing most hills. For larger hills or getting back to the clubhouse, TurfRiders can go as fast as 24 mph.

Fitness, fun and speed of play have always been top of mind at The Westin Kierland Golf Club since it first unveiled Segway Golf in 2002. Adding to its unique fleet of golf vehicles were the golf bike, GolfBoard, climate-controlled golf carts with misters, four-seater golf carts and now the newest innovation - the TurfRider.

"TurfRiders help provide a fun and exhilarating golf experience," said Nancy Dickens, director of golf, The Westin Kierland Golf Club. "They are easy to ride but something most golfers have never experienced. They continue the Kierland tradition of creating a unique and different golf experience, while rounding out the 'quartet' of fun: Segways, GolfBoards, golf bikes and now, the TurfRider."

The Westin Kierland Golf Club is a Troon-managed course designed by Scott Miller featuring 27 holes that form a complementary collection of nines - each with its own flavor and strategy, but all equally enjoyable and challenging. Golfers can enjoy the luxury of golf carts with built-in misters for climate control and a covered driving range. Traditional golf instruction by award-winning instructors Mike and Sandy LaBauve is offered at the LaBauve Golf Academy and Director of Instruction Tyler Haynes, PGA who offers professional instruction and custom club fitting through the Kierland Performance Center. The Club's innovative FORE-MAX program helps golfers step up their performance through improved fitness, flexibility and nutrition. With its customized workouts, FORE-MAX is also a popular fitness option for those who don't play golf. For a unique golf experience, the Westin Kierland Golf Club also offers a Scottish golf program, where golfers play in a traditional Scottish kilt.
