San Soleil

- Keeping the Sun's Rays at Bay

By David Theoret

Translated from French San Soleil literally means "sunless". And that's what these garments are, they don't let any of the sun's harmful rays through to your skin. Their 2018 Spring collection of sun protection tops have a number of technological features in common. The most important is true UPF 50 Sun Protection. Most companies that claim a similar UPF factor use a topical "plastic spray" to create their sun protection, which washed out after several washes. SanSoleil's sun protection never washes out during the life of the garment.

Another important factor, especially on hot summer days, is SanSoleil's Permanent Cooling feature. The fabric pulls moisture away from the body for quick evaporation to create a cooling effect that provides great comfort. Many of the tops also feature Mesh Venting; inserts that are sewn into the sleeves and create a billowing effect while you walk. This helps you stay cool and comfortable during your round.

One of the nicest features of SanSoleil is that these garments are easy to care for. The SolCool fabric is lightweight and feels like silk, yet it can be washed and dried on a regular cycle.

SanSoleil's Print Zip Tee SolCool top offers the best of a print and color blocked world. The sleeves, collar and placket are fashioned in the What Knot print and the front and back of the body are available in either Pink or Blue. As with all zipped SanSoleil garments, the Print Zip Tee SolCool top features a Swarovski crystal pull on the zipper. It's available in sizes XS - XL and retails for $96

Whether you're a golfer, tennis player, a walker, biker, or runner, San Soleil's SolTek Crew Neck top provides the ultimate in sun protection. It's a great garment for sports that require fabrics that move and are lightweight for exertion in the sun's heat. This crew neck top is available in sizes XS - XL and in several solid colors and prints including Looped Turquoise and Pink and Match Play. Retail price is $88.

Bright, sunny days often start off cool, so if you're tee time is in the cool of the morning, look no further than the SolCool Full Zip Jacket, designed to keep you warm and protected from the sun, all at the same time. This full-zip garment features a mock neck that zips all the way up and two deep, secure pockets. The SolCool Full Zip Jacket is available in sizes XS - XL and in White, Black, or Pale Aqua. Retail price is $140. Because it's lightweight and folds up easy, this is a great garment to travel with.

When it comes to sun protection, about the last thing you'd think of is a sleeveless polo. But SanSoleil "SolTek Fabric" Performance Sleeveless Polo offers moisture wicking, athletic stretch and nylon mesh inserts for added breathability. There's also UPF 50 sun protection to protect everything under the sun, except your arms; you'll need sunscreen for that! This good looking and functional garment is available in sizes XS - XL and in a number of solid colors and prints. Retail price is $87.
This year, SanSoleil is offering something new. The SolCool Skortie Capri is a women's skort with capri-length tights sewn in instead of shorties. This provides a lady's bottom half with the ultimate in sun protection. They also have been shown to reduce body temperature by 5%. The SolCool Skortie Capri has two side pockets and is available in sizes XS - XL and 11 solid colors and prints. Retail price is $110.

Mock collars are big in SanSoleil's 2018 Spring collection, after all the neck is the quickest aging skin on a women's body and the stand on a mock collar provides a good deal of protection. SanSoleil offers a stylish zippered mock neck polo. The SunGlow Zip Mock features a zipped placket complete with a Swarovski crystal zippered pull and is available in sizes XS - XL and in a variety of solid colors and prints. Retail price is $94.

San Soleil works hand in hand with another Canadian women's golf apparel company: Swing Control. Swing Control makes what is probably the most flattering women's bottoms specifically for golfers. Their tummy control feature is second to none as are their styles, color and designs. Many of their bottoms pair well with San Soleil tops.

This is just a small sample of all the fun and exciting pieces SanSoleil has for women this spring. In addition to the bright, solid colors, SanSoleil is introducing some new prints: Wildcat in Brown or Turquoise, Westport in Pink or Blue, Seeing Spots in Pink or Navy, Barcelona, Izzy in Lilac, Turquoise, or White, Tidbits in Ivory or Blush, Blue Posies, Pizzazz in Blue or Flamingo and the Savannah print in Blue or Pink. About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
