Tail Activewear's Better Than Basics Collection
- Taking Black and White to a New Level
By David Theoret
Tail Activewear has done it again with their newest updates to their Better Than Basics collection. The collection's name has a lot to do with the color palette; everything is black and white. But Tail ratchets up the heat on what you can do with two basic colors. They have created a collection of simple black & white that is anything but simple.
There are several options when your looking through this collection of tops. If it is something sleeveless you are looking for, you owe it to yourself to take a look at the Estrella, Beckett, and Kailani tops. Although the Estrella and Beckett tops have been around for awhile, they are still striking additions to any wardrobe. The new Kailani top is a Sleeveless Top w/ Mini Novelty Neck and Dot Mesh Inserts. They are all designed to pair well with the classic basics such as the Rowan Ankle Pant and the Mulligan Short but they also look great with the new additions: Sabelle Capri, the Cid Ankle Pant and the Marley Ankle Pant. Who says you can't look good in just the basics?
The new Maui Top is made from their 91% polyester/ 9% spandex performance Jersey material and features short sleeve top w/ mock neck and UPF 50 sun protection to keep those harmful rays at bay and keep you cool on those hot summer days. This short sleeve garment also features mesh inserts under the arms as well as on the shoulders with a "criss cross" lattice look for a real feminine touch. The 25" length provides more than enough coverage for the average gal. Tops from this collection are all available in sixes XS - XXL and retail for $75.
Looking for something really unique? Take a look at the Alani Sleeveless top. It comes in solid black or white and looks amazing with the Embossed Jersey inserts. You will look like your wearing a shirt with leather in it when in actuality, it is Tail's Refined Pique breathable fabric made of 94% Polyester, 6% Spandex. They certainly designed the Alani top to be a head turner.
The new Cid Ankle Pant is fashionable and functional and with two seams down the front of the legs and one down the back, this detail adds an amazing all over slimming effect. The Cid Pants are made with the Dot Bi-Stretch Woven Polyester / Spandex blend material for easy stretch and comfort and with 2 Front & 2 Back Pockets, these pants are lightweight and breathable and could easily become your major "go to" pants. They have a 28" inseam and are available in sizes 2 - 24 and sell for $89.
Another great pair of pants from this amazing BTB Collection are The Arlington Ankle Pant. They are sewn from Tail's 94% Polyester/6% Spandex Compression Ponte fabric and can easily provide an extra layer of warmth on those chilly golf days. They feature a modern fit pull-on design and are extremely comfortable. The 2 front and 2 back pockets are roomy and easy to slip your hand in and out off. They also have a UPF rating of 50 so no worries about the sun. Mesh inserts on the lower part of the legs help to increase breathability and keep you cool. They are available in Black, sizes 2 - 24 and retail for $95. They pair well with almost anything so whatever Tail color collection is your favorite; the Arlington Pants make for the perfect outfit.
You may be asking yourself, "Just how creative can you be with only two colors?" Wait until you see some of the new printed pants and shorts in this amazing black and white collection. The addition of the printed Sabelle Peddle Pusher Capri pants and the Marley Ankle Pant in the Serge print; is simply genius. Tail designers let their imaginations go when they made these two pieces. If you love the Serge print in the pants, Tail has made it available in the Zarine Shorts as well. From extra small to extra plus size, no matter what size you need; you are covered because these pieces are all available in sizes 2 - 24.
The Mulligan Shorts are sewn from Tail's bi-stretch woven material in the Luxurious print and the 89% Polyester/11% Spandex fabric provides all the stretch you'll need to get through your golf swing comfortably, with no pinching or binding. The modern fit pull-on design makes them easy to get on and off and the 2 front and 2 back pockets provide all the storage space a lady needs on the course. UPF 50 sun protection keeps you protected and the 21" length provides added modesty. The Mulligan Shorts are available in sizes 2 - 24 and retail for $85.
If you're a big fan of Tail's golf dresses, you're in for a treat! A black and white dress designed for the new BTB collection was bound to happen. Every amazing collection from Tail includes a golf dress and the shorties that go with it. The new Iliana Black and White Dress is fabulous! It will certainly make you question if it was made for golf, the office, or for the perfect dinner out on the town. This sleeveless dress has a mini mock zipper placket, all over black piping, and a flirty little Flounce Hem; all features to make this one of the best dress designs ever. It is made from the Refined Pique material that also features the UPF 50+ and is available in sizes XS - XXL and retails for $89.
These are just a few of the pieces available from Tail's Better Than Basics Collection. The company has once again shown their versatility and what they can do when they simplify the color palette. Great job Tail staff!

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.
After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
