Christmas Mountain - The Oaks #14

Getting To Know: Christmas Mountain Village

An Insightful Interview on the Property

By Brian Weis

Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with multiple staffers who share some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.

Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
Etched into the rolling hills of Wisconsin Dells, Christmas Mountain offers 27 holes of championship golf. The golf courses at Christmas Mountain were awarded 4 stars by Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play" and we consider it the "Best Golf Value in Wisconsin Dells."

If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
We are priced about $20 less than Trappers Turn & Wild Rock and the Oaks course at Christmas Mountain can rival either one. Christmas Mountain is always in fantastic shape and the views on the back nine are breathtaking.

What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
It's pretty straight forward so you can play well the first time you play it as long as you keep it in the short grass!

Recent Awards or What You Are Most Proud About The Course?
Rated 4 stars by Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play"

What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
The back nine of the Oaks course is our signature course. It is very demanding and has some incredible views.

What Is Your Favorite Hole? Any Tips to Play It?
My personal favorite is Oaks #14. It measures 413 from the tips and you have to be on the right side of the fairway to have an angle at the green. A fairway wood or hybrid aimed at the fairway bunker is the play. From there you will leave yourself about a 160-170 yard uphill shot to a green that runs away from you and you cannot see the putting surface. The hole is guarded by 3 huge oak trees on the left side of the fairway that will block you out if you are left of center off the tee.

Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole?
The buffalo chicken wrap is fantastic.

Who Holds Course Record and What Was Their Score?
We are unsure on what the exact course record is. I have heard of 3 different 64's that have been recorded but none in tournament play.

In his adult years, his passion for the game collided with his entrepreneurial spirit and in 2004 launched GolfWisconsin.com. In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born. Today, the network consists of a site in all 50 states supported by national sites like GolfTrips.com, GolfGuide.com and GolfPackages.com. It is an understatement to say, Brian is passionate about promoting golf and golf travel on a local, regional, national and international level.
