The Dance Floor is Now Open
Geneva National's 27 Hole Putting Course
By Paul Seifert
Destination golf courses across the country are investing in their properties to add new, curated golf experiences aimed at allowing players to experience more golf while on-site, and to allow new entrants to the game to find their own Wisco golf addictions they'll associate strongly with the wonderful experience they have while there.
The newest of these non-championship golf amenities in Wisconsin is The Dance Floor at Geneva National Resort & Club. A 27-hole Himalayas-style putting course, The Dance Floor replaces the previous practice putting green adjacent to the property's beautiful (and recently updated) clubhouse, overlooking Lake Como and numerous holes of the Palmer and Player layouts.
Aptly named, The Dance Floor is a 44,000 square foot putting course that provides a symphony of steep, rolling contours in a party-like setting that includes a cantina, taco bar and bocce, all steps from the clubhouse and its ample amenities.
Designed by golf course architect Craig Haltom (famous for his work at Sand Valley - think "Craig's Porch," The Club at Lac La Belle, Stevens Point Country Club, The Beloit Club, Trappers Turn and others), the course is spacious with a very cool vibe and options galore.
The "holes" urge players to think outside the box to traverse the course's many hills and spines, and most can be played a nearly infinite number of ways. One recent video the resort posted on their Instagram story, for example, highlighted three completely different lines a single hole can be attacked - even playing backwards - all leading to made putts. Who doesn't enjoy the opportunity for creative golf?
Players can bring their own balls and putters, or - included in the $9 greens fee for those coming just for The Dance Floor - get a logo ball and borrow one of the resort's clubs. Full 27-hole rounds should take under an hour to play and are a perfect way to spend extra time in a wonderful golf setting at one of Wisconsin's top resort destinations.
