What You Need To Know: Irish Waters Golf Club
An Insightful Interview With Mark Becker, PGA Head Golf Professional / Director of Operations
By Brian Weis
Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Mark Becker who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.
Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
Irish Waters Golf Club was designed and built in 1993 and is conveniently located between Green Bay & Appleton. Golfers will experience gently sloping fairways through the picturesque Wisconsin countryside. The golf course is partially wooded, and built along the beautiful Duck Creek and includes 8 lakes and attracts visitors wishing to play the area's only island green! A full length practice range and large putting green are also on site to practice your golf game and/or receive instruction from one of our PGA golf professionals or apprentices.
The clubhouse has a full golf shop for all your golfing needs, as well as a full bar & restaurant to watch the game & satisfy your taste buds! There is also a large outdoor patio area to sit back and relax after your round with live music offered throughout the season.
If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
The golf course is very player friendly and welcoming to all golfer abilities. The avid golfers will certainly be challenged, but the beginning golfer will not feel intimidated. It is a fantastic golf course to learn and play the game, where families can all come out to enjoy! The green fee prices are some of the best in the area...clearly the best value you will find!
What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
Hit the ball straight and make your putts! :)
Be careful on our Par 4, 2nd hole...it can be a tricky one with water coming into play throughout the hole, and hitting an approach shot to a small green. #8 & 9 are a good couple of holes that can grab you. Our 12 hole is a Par 3, island green, and holes 15 & 16 are shorter par 4's, but still have some fight in them to grab your golf ball, if you aren't careful. Enjoy!!!
Any recent changes to the golf course? Or any upcoming changes?
New 2019 Yamaha Golf Carts just arrived for the season and we couldn't be more excited for all our golfers to experience the golf course, "in style!" Of course, the golf course is very walkable, but if you do ride...and I know a lot of you do...you will be riding and looking sharp!
The pond on #4 will now have a water fountain feature in 2019 and we hope to also have the water fountain feature in back of the clubhouse pond as well.
Recent Awards or What You Are Most Proud About The Course?
We are confident some awards will be coming. In the meantime, we are proud to be a very family friendly golf course that you can enjoy anytime with no pressure or intimidation. Our peaceful location and affordable prices will provide a fantastic experience and will clearly be the best value in the area. We invite you to come find out for yourself!
What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
There are many great holes here, but our Par 3, 12th hole, is the most talked about, as it is our island green...completely surrounded by water. Golfers feel a sense of relief and accomplishment if they can hit their tee shot onto the green...and that's the way we like it! Tee boxes on the hole range from 117 yards to 170 yards...an excellent hole indeed.
What Is Your Favorite Hole? Any Tips to Play It?
Wow, this is a tough one because I like all the holes on the course for different reasons.
It would be easy for me to say #12, but I also like #2. However, I am going to choose #9. This is a great Par 4, where you must hit an accurate tee shot or end up behind trees on your approach shot to a green that is protected by water on the left. A pretty hole and a very fun hole to play, for sure. It also leads directly to the outdoor grill at the turn behind the clubhouse. So you have that going for you...which is nice!
Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole?
Brand new menu for spring 2019! Try our huge pretzel that will feed up to 3 people! Our pizzas and burgers are some of the best in the area! You can't go wrong!
For the traveling golfer, do you have lodging onsite or partner with any area hotels?
We do not have lodging on site. However, the Country Inn & Suites is close by in Little Chute with great rooms and an indoor water park, just 14 minutes from our parking lot.

Who Holds Course Record and What Was Their Score?
I have heard many numbers on this, along with different people doing it. Therefore, I am not sure which number is accurate. Come on out and let's establish the course record!
