By Dave Daubert
Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection, the all-season luxury resort located in Southwest Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, has been named a "Top Hotel in the South" in Travel + Leisure's 2021 World's Best Awards.
Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards annually honor the top hotels and travel destinations in the world and are determined by votes from hundreds of thousands of readers. Through an annual survey, readers reflect on their travel experiences over a 3-year period and rate hotels and resorts by appraising rooms and facilities, location, service, food and value.
"We strive to make each guest's visit unique and special in its own way and we are gratified that Travel + Leisure's readers regard us so highly," said Stefan Carstens, General Manager, Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection.
The announcement comes on the heels of Primland being nominated for multiple USA TODAY 10Best Awards, as well as being named a top resort in America on multiple occasions by Conde Nast Traveler, one of the best hotels in the country by US News & World Report (and most Instagram-Worthy), and one of the top 35 American golf resorts by Golf, Golfweek and Golf Digest (out of several thousand).
Lodging at Primland is an experience in itself - 360 degree views from atop the mountain in The Lodge, breathtaking scenery from the Pinnacle Cottages perched 2,800 feet overlooking the Pinnacles of Dan, stunning views of The Highland Course while relaxing on the decks of the Fairway Cottages and an incomparable experience amongst the trees in Treehouses 3,000 feet above Kibler Valley where you can hear the Dan River flowing below.
Over the last year, the resort has added to its array of distinctive, first-class amenities with the unveiling of the Schlumberger Wine Cellar, an intimate space featuring walls paneled with wormy chestnut and a menu highlighted by varietals from the world's finest vineyards, and the Bootleggers Outdoor Gym & Fitness Trail, which spans over 100 yards and features eight workout stations with weights hand-crafted using repurposed materials from the property.
Additional experiences at Primland include horseback riding, fly fishing, alfresco yoga and meditation, hiking, sporting clays, RTV trail riding, and stargazing in one of the largest observatories in the Eastern U.S.
Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection is conveniently located two hours from Charlotte, five hours from Washington D.C, and just 90 minutes from two regional airports, Piedmont Triad (PTI) in Greensboro and Roanoke Regional. The resort's partnership with NetJets provides guests with special benefits when flying privately through two nearby airports, Blue Ridge and Mt. Airy-Surry County, only 45 minutes away. The property also features a helipad located at the North Gate.
