Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa

Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa

By Sarah Janz

I just spent 10 glorious days in Florida with my family and great friends. The husbands went golfing a couple of mornings while the wives stayed at the beach with the kids. The husbands returned from golfing and suggested we book a spa afternoon. What great husbands we have. We were mid-week on the family beach vacation and what better than to take an entire afternoon to be pampered.

We found the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa (A Marriott Property) only about 6 miles from where we were staying on Ft. Myer's Beach. When I called to book our appointments, the staff at the spa was so cooperative in helping me choose a service that I could enjoy with my mild sunburn. I booked a milk and honey body wrap (my body was a little too sunburned to attempt a massage) and my friend booked a massage.

We arrived 2 hours before our appointments to enjoy some of the fabulous amenities the spa had to offer. We were welcomed into the spa area by Gladys. She was the most delightful lady. She told us she had just celebrated her 20th anniversary working at the spa. She so reminded me of my grandma. Gladys took wonderful care of us our entire stay. We then proceeded to use the steam room, sauna and whirlpool. We were given mimosa's, compliments of the spa. Could it get any better than this? I had never been in a steam room before and decided it was my favorite.

When it was time for our specific services, we were lead into our separate rooms. I had never had a body wrap before and wasn't sure what to expect. Nicki took excellent care of me. She explained everything in detail. When she started rubbing the milk and honey mixture on my body....I felt like I was in heaven. The smell of it reminded me of a newborn baby. You know that baby smell you just can't get enough of. I lay there wrapped for 20 minutes in this shiny metallic blanket with this smell relaxing every ounce of my being. I was sad it had to end.

So...all you parents out there that are planning a family vacation....think about it. Spending some quality time with your family is great!!! It's even better when you can sneak away....just for a bit...to have some quality "ME TIME"!!!
