Golf and Sportsbook Gaming at Island Resort & Casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

By Dave Daubert

Golfers looking to experience a fun and exciting golf and gaming getaway this summer can look no further than Michigan's scenic Upper Peninsula and the Island Resort & Casino, located just outside of Escanaba. Home of the award-winning Sweetgrass and Sage Run golf courses, Island is one of the premier golf and gaming resort destinations in the Midwest.

The summer golf season is going into full swing and golfers can now plan a fun golf adventure and combine it with Sportsbook gaming entertainment. Play 18 in the morning and bet on your favorite teams or players in the afternoon or golf 36 holes and spend your evening gaming and watching the best sporting events.

TwinSpires, the official online wagering site for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby has become the official partner of the resort. June is a great month to visit Island, with premier sporting events like the NBA Playoffs and Finals taking place nightly, and the US Open June 17-21. With 14 kiosks conveniently located throughout the T.McC's Sports Bar, golfers can easily place bets while watching their favorite NBA playoff team or beloved PGA Tour pros on 30+ big-screen TVs.

Golfers can easily book fully customizable packages featuring 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-night lodging options with up to four rounds of golf. Package prices start at just $120 per person based on double occupancy. Visit www.islandresortgolf.com for more details.

Award-winning golf has become the centerpiece of the Island Resort & Casino
Designed by Paul Albanese, Sweetgrass features an open layout with some of the game's most fun greens to putt (Redan, Biarritz, Island and Double-Green), as well as some wonderful strategic holes -- including the famous island green No. 15 and spectacular double green with finishing par-five holes on each side. The course, which plays host to the Symetra Tour's Island Resort Championship, is ranked among Golfweek's Best Courses and has been recognized by GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest as a Best in State selection.

Sage Run, also designed by Albanese, offers a contrasting style from its sister course. The course, which was listed among Golf Digest's prestigious list of "Best New Courses" in 2019, meanders through beautiful Upper Peninsula hardwoods, open vistas, and a very dramatic ridge -- offering a scenic variety of shots that collectively create a fun thrill ride for golfers. The course annually plays host to some of the top collegiate players with The Island Resort Intercollegiate at Sage Run.
