Description
Elmwood Golf Course south of Washington has gone out of business.
The former nine-hole public course, which sits on 68 acres, is located south of Washington directly off Highway 47.
It was costing us more to operate it than it was worth, said Elmwood Owner Gordon Ziegler. I also wanted to retire, so I just retired.
The facility, still owned by Ziegler, currently is for sale.
Were trying to sell it, Ziegler said. Over the last few years, theres been rumors about us selling the course and someone having a contract on it. As a result, some of our customers left and went to other places. The business just hasnt been good enough to keep it open.
