Golf Course Information
Description
Founded in 1892, Glen Arven is one of the oldest clubs in America. Its 120 year history is rich and fascinating: Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson and many other golf legends walked its fairways during the late 1930s when Glen Arven was a stop on the fledgling PGA tour. U.S. Womens Amateur champions Beatrix Hoyt (1896, 1897, 1898), Frances Griscom (1900), and Thomasville native Mary Lena Faulk (1953) were all members of Glen Arven. The club has hosted many important golf championships over the years including three Georgia Womens Amateurs and one Georgia Mens Amateur. It was on the 18th hole of Glen Arven in 1956 that then president Dwight D. Eisenhower deemed himself fit enough to run for another term as President of the United States.
