The Avila Beach Golf Resort is the most well-known of the Central Coast Golf Courses, and a wholly-unique golf experience for each of our guests. Designed by Olin Dutra and Desmond Muirhead and opened for play in 1969, we are located 3 miles off Highway 101, south of San Luis Obispo and northwest of Pismo Beach. Nestled in the surrounding hills and on the edge of the bay, the resort includes a par-72, 6,500-yard championship course, extensive and beautifully crafted event facilities and a neighborhood bar that serves tasty sandwiches and small bites.
The golf course has kikuyu grass fairways (think Riviera CC) and quick, classic bentgrass greens. The front nine is situated on hilly terrain with small, often-elevated, smooth greens within oak-lined valleys. The back nine transverses a tidal estuary, with several forced carries over the water and multi-level greens to test your will and your skill. Golfers of all abilities will enjoy the challenge of this scenic course.

The Avila Beach Golf Resort is the perfect beach venue for your big day! Relax listening to the calming ocean sounds while enjoying the panoramic views of Avila’s beach, estuary and mountains. There are indoor and outdoor options available. The most popular option selected includes a ceremony on our luscious grass pavilion steps away from the sand, a Cocktail Hour in the Beach Club with a Terrace overlooking the beach, then transitioning into the reception space on a velvet lawn covered in string lighting.
Avila Beach Golf Resort is also the premier beach side venue for the hottest concerts and festivals in Avila Beach.
The course was very well taken care of. There were lots of wildlife to enjoy while you play. The carts provided were very nice and the Pro Shop staff were great. I will play again next time I’m in the area.
