Even before you arrive, you know you’ve left for good.

When you live on a bridgeless island, what first strikes you is what’s missing. Cars. Noise. Crowds. Stress. And then you realize that there really isn’t anything missing at all. On the southernmost tip of the Carolinas, Haig Point is an intimate community set upon an island suspended in time. It is not an escape from life, but a deeper immersion into it. And that’s the whole point.

All around the Point

There has been the notion of a distant community being a bridge too far. Today, a new paradigm has emerged – and the ultimate luxury has become a home and lifestyle set comfortably away from the maddening crowd. At bridgeless Haig Point, home is your own private, intimate and secure island community. And it’s all just a seven minute jaunt aboard our water taxi from Hilton Head’s Harbour Town.

This is where the adventure starts and the wow begins. Crossing Calibogue Sound. Instead of traffic lights, your fellow commuters are dolphin, egrets and osprey. Every hour of the day our fleet of ferries plies the coastal waters, connecting Haig Point with the best of the Lowcountry. There are 18 round trips each day from our Embarkation Center, as well as our 24-hour-per-day private water taxi for impromptu jaunts to Harbour Town and beyond. It turns out that away isn’t far at all.

An inherently southern vocabulary is at work on the Point. Residences reflect the integrity and imagination of their owners. Said another way, each is an individual expression of architecture with authentic roots to the region. Like the families who have created them, no two are quite alike. Herein lies the allure of the unscripted.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of living on an island, at least this island, is convenience. Living at Haig Point is stress-free. Groceries, flowers, packages? Delivered to your front door. Hungry … lunch or dinner is on the way. Everything moves seamlessly aboard our ferries and trollies from the Embarkation Center on Hilton Head to your front door. And it always arrives with a smile.

If you must, there is high speed fiber optic and clear cellular connectivity. A far better option is to connect with your neighbors on the courts, course or at the beach. Happen by the Mansion for a morning coffee and a muffin or to a yoga class. Indeed, every amenity one expects in a private community is here. Again, what’s missing, isn’t.
