Golf Course Information
Description
In 1919, Seth Raynor, golf course architect, utilized the amazing elevation changes throughout the 160 acres where Midland Hills Country Club resides. He is one of the most well known golf course architects, and currently has 13 courses ranked in the top 100 (as rated by Golfweek). Mr. Raynor was an architectural partner of Charles Blair MacDonald, who is considered by many the father of golf course architecture in America.
Seth Raynor's strategic and classic design principles are found throughout Midland Hills: flat bunkers, rolling fairways, large greens and specific architectural designs of holes. Holes such as: The Biarritz, The Eden, The Redan, The Short, The Alps, The Punchbowl, The Knoll, and The Cape are all present here at Midland Hills. Over the years, the Club has allowed trees and shrubs to mature and screen the course from surrounding areas to give the golfer a feel of serenity. Like a true classic course, Seth Raynor emphasized short walking distances from green complexes to the following tee complexes, as golf carts were not implemented in 1919. As you can see, even though Midland Hills is coming upon our 90th anniversary several of the "Raynor" staples have stood the test of time.
