Golf Course Review: Zablocki Park Golf Course
Great Course for Beginners and Pros Alike
The three dollars spent on a round of golf at Zablocki is the best three dollars spent on golf in the greater metro area. On a typical hole you would start off between the two worn, wooden shaped golf balls that form the tee box. In the distance, always between 60 and a 120 yards, is the red flag with the hole number written on it. The supposed fairways and also rough at this course is not the best, but for three dollars it is far more than adequate. It is the same length throughout the entire length of every hole. This is okay because all the holes are easily reached in one shot, and the grass is not too long to make it difficult to hit out of should you miss the green. The green itself is also good. Most of the divots covering the vast area of the green are repaired. Clearly the greens have had the most work and effort put into them.
Another aspect of the course that makes it well worth the three dollars is the specialties of particular holes. For example, on the fourth hole, there is a steep hill that can be used to manipulate the ball for a better shot. Another example is the sixth hole which has a canopy of maple and oak trees that provide a challenge for golf and a beauty in the later months of the golf season. On this same hole there is a bubbling brook which somehow manages to attract the balls of even the greatest golfer. Also, on a lot of the holes there is the occasional bunker that is a possible hazard. The sand in these is not the high quality sand found in the expensive courses but rather just beach sand. But it does get the job done. All in all, this par three course provides a challenge for even the greatest golfers and is only a fraction of the price.
