Golf Course Review: Deer Haven Golf Club
Frankly, I feel I got ripped off yesterday.........
I decided to come out here to play on Memorial Day, and much to my delight, there were only about a half dozen cars in the parking lot. By the time I played three holes, I discovered why.
This is not a good golf course, and I think the word is getting around. For one thing, for what you get( par 60-3647yds), it is grossly overpriced. I paid $29.40 to walk 18 holes on a course, that is in poor condition, had no drinking water anywhere on the course except for the soda machine( anyone who pays $1.50 for a bottle of water has to be, in my opinion, mentally challenged.
What's up with the 174 yd. 16th hole? A blind tee shot on a par 3? You can't be serious! To reach the green on this hole from the tee, you actually have to take a longer iron, and hit a slice( a bad shot). You should never be rewarded for hitting a bad shot, yet that is exactly what you have to do to hit the green from the tee box. The 242 yard third, and the 231yd 6th hole were also good examples of golf course design stupidity.
The one reedeming quality this course has is the par 3 12th hole (181 yds.)The tee is a two tier elevation, and even though a large tree sticks out near the front right edge of the green, you can still get on by hitting it left center. The overall condition of the fairways, and tee boxes left a lot to be desired. The greens were in fair condition.
If I paid only $15.00 to play here, that would have been about right.
