Golf Course Review: St Croix National
One-of-a-kind experience with great rates and conditions
There is no doubt that St. Croix National is one of the most challenging courses in the metro area; however, it is also one of the most beautiful too. Although there are no cliffs as (2 handicap) states, the up-and-down layout through the valley is a rare find among the metro area, especially when considering the price. One of the best parts about playing here is that you can escape the hustle of the city and relax among the pines while playing the greatest game there is. Every time I play here I feel like its my own private course because I rarely see any other golfers.
Although there are a few blind tee shots--holes 1, 2, 11, and 16--the rest are pretty easy to figure out (follow the fairway). Some of the holes do need brush trimming, and the tee boxes need a bit of work, but the greens and fairways are in great shape--especially considering the lack of rain and the conditions of other courses in the area right now.
Their staff is right, you do need to play this course more than once or twice before making judgments about it. But with friendly employees, competitive rates, and a one-of-a-kind course, who wouldnt want to come back?
