Golf Course Review: Sand Valley
Sand Valley - Bandon Dunes of The Midwest
Sand Valley golf course is the first course built at Sand Valley Resort. The course starts off on one of the highest points on property. Listen to the caddies and leave driver in the bag of the first tee. Wayward distance is penalized and you do not need to overpower the golf course. Play for positioning to attack the greens. The advice is a reoccurring theme onto the second hole and beyond.
My favorite hole is the 18th as it climbs back to the starting point. The fairway is 300 yards wide to a generous landing area. A massive ball swallowing bunker guards the green and the play is to avoid challenging it and hug the left side. If you can get home in two aim for left side of green as balls will funnel to the right.
Corre and Crenshaw designed a masterpiece here. It is unlike anything in Wisconsin. Bring your walking shoes as this facility is walking only..It is a great stroll.
