Golf Course Information
Description
In addition to being a great championship venue, Gateway Golf & Country Club is designed with the discerning member in mind. The course features six sets of tees, including senior tees for both ladies and gentlemen, generous fairways, cape cod-style bunkering, and putting surfaces that are often described as some of the finest Bermuda grass greens in the state. The practice facility is second-to-none, boasting a double-sided range, sporty short-game area, fantastic putting green, and two practice holes, a par 3 and par 4, which members describe as two of the most challenging holes on the property.
In April 2009, we celebrated the 20th Anniversary. In its inaugural season, 1989, the course debuted on the Golf Digest list of Top 100 Courses. This recognition earned Gateway the privilege of hosting the 1990 Ben Hogan Tour Gateway Open, won by Ted Tryba, and the 1991 Ben Hogan Tour Gateway Open, won by Gary McCordhis only professional victory until he became a winner on the Champions Tour in 1999. February 2011 will mark the 22nd edition of the Gateway Senior Invitational, a prestigious GolfWeek sanctioned senior amateur event featuring the top-ranked senior and super-senior amateurs in the country. The event began in 1990 as the Single Digit Senior Invitational, and was later renamed the Westinghouse Senior Championship. The 2009 edition hosted amateurs from 26 states. The club has also hosted numerous USGA qualifiers and PGA chapter and section events, including the 2008 Callaway Golf State Pro-Assistant event, which was previously hosted by the venerable TPC @ Sawgrass.
The in-season golf program features daily group games for both men and women, including Tuesday Mens Day, Tuesday Two-Man, Wednesday Ladies' and Gentlemen Skins, Thursday Ladies' Day, Friday Men's Stableford, and Saturday Ladies' and Gentlemen Beat the Pro. Combine these activities with a tremendous Couples' Sunday Golf program, five major tournaments, eleven casual tournaments, instruction programs for beginner and advanced, and you get a comprehensive and fun golf experience. If you prefer, make your own foursome and enjoy golf your way.
Our year round golfing members enjoy a comprehensive reciprocal program during the summer, giving them the opportunity to experience many exceptional courses throughout this region.
And of course, your staff of PGA Professionals is always on call for anything you might need.
