The second hole is a straightaway par four where the player’s drive must challenge the left fairway bunkers to leave the best approach angle to the course’s largest green. If the short approach is played accurately to one of the many subtle ridges on the green, a birdie is attainable.

This picturesque par three is played with a mid to long iron, depending on hole location. Pay close attention to where the hole is cut — the ridge crossing this “reverse Redan” green will help hold shots near the front hole locations or feed balls to those cut near the rear of this deep green.

Avoid the coquina bunker on the left side of this par five and you may be able to reach the green in two. Approach shots to this three-tiered green must find the correct level for a good chance at birdie.

This fifth hole is a medium-length, dogleg right par four with a very wide fairway. The “punchbowl” in the front of this green is very receptive to approach shots, while shots to the back hole locations can be a challenge. Avoid the somewhat deep greenside bunkers and a good score is possible.

The sixth hole is a long, dogleg right par four with an extremely wide fairway. Tee shots should be placed between the “Principal’s Nose” bunker, straight ahead and the oak trees on the right for the best approach angle. This green is open and most receptive to long approach shots coming in from the right.

This seventh hole is a long par three with a large green. The putting surface is separated into sections by a central knob, which influences shots from all directions. Players should always know where this feature is in relation to the hole location and use it to their benefit. Long putts here can be difficult.

This straightaway par four provides options off the tee. Depending on the hole location at the green, players must choose which side of the fairway to challenge with their drive. Hole locations on the right side of the green should be approached from the left side of the fairway. Hole locations on the left side of the green should be approached from the right.

The picturesque par five requires a tee shot placed on the left side fairway bunker. From this angle, players can choose the optimum layup distance or go for the peninsula green. This green has more contours than is evident, and approaches to rear or right side hole locations should be played with caution as water is nearby.

Hole 10 is a par three that is played with a short to mid iron, depending on the hole location. The contour on this large green divides the putting surface into distinct cupping areas, so it is important to focus on where the hole is cut. Shots to rear hole locations should be played with caution.

Drives played short of the central bunker provide a wide landing area, while those attempting to carry this bunker must avoid a small lagoon on the right and bunkers short of the green. The putting surface is much larger than it appears, so approach shots can be aggressive.

Hole 12 is a medium-length, dogleg right par four. A drive that challenges the fairway bunker on the right will leave players with an open approach to the large green. Approach shots should avoid the grass “hollows” on the right and deep bunker on the left.

Drives on this long par four should be played along the left to leave the best angle to the green. Although this is the smallest green on the course, the contours are very gentle and receptive. Due to the lagoon, approaches to front hole locations should be made with caution.

As the course heads toward the ocean, players can let out their drives to this wide par five fairway. Tee shots played along the left may allow approaches to reach the green in two shots. Set among dunes and bunkers, this “punchbowl” green is a bit hidden, so trusting your yardage is key to making birdie.

Hole 15 is a long par three playing back toward the Atlantic Ocean. While set among dunes, the green is open in the front, but protected along the right by the deepest bunker on the course. This uphill hole always seems to play into the ocean breeze, so an extra club is probably necessary.

The 16th is a short par four that allows many options from the tee. Aggressive play down the right will shorten the hole, but the player must avoid bunkers and dunes. The “Lion’s Mouth” green is protected in front by a bunker that divides forward hole locations, so players must arrive on the correct side of this feature for a realistic birdie putt.

The longest par five on the course requires an accurate tee shot to avoid the lagoon on the right. Once in the fairway, lay-up shots should be played carefully up the left center to avoid the wood-planked fairway bunker and provide the best angle of approach. Left and back, right hole locations on this green are dangerous as water is nearby.
