By Brian Weis

Local and traveling golfers love to research courses before playing them, whether it is to gain some local knowledge or to set an expectation before their upcoming round. The team at GolfTrips.com answers some Frequently Asked Questions that will provide valuable insight about the property, its most talked about holes and the signature dish/drink to consume at the 19th hole.

Overview of the Golf Course/Property
Since opening in 1996, the TPC Las Vegas golf course (previously TPC at The Canyons) has some of the richest PGA TOUR history in all of Las Vegas. From 1996-2006, the TPC Las Vegas hosted the Shriner's Hospitals for Children Open, the Bard Capital Challenge and the Las Vegas Senior Classic. During that time, some of the world's best golfers and major title winners - Phil Mickelson, John Daly, Hale Irwin and Jim Furyk - have graced the fairways of the TPC Las Vegas.

But you don't have to be a PGA TOUR pro to get a tee time at TPC Las Vegas. If you're planning your Las Vegas golf vacation, TPC Las Vegas is open to the public as well as resort guests. Golfers only need be willing to put their skills to the test on these uniquely challenging fairways-and experience PGA TOUR-quality standards of the game firsthand.

The TPC Las Vegas golf course offers an incomparable level of play and challenge for every skill set. The club's par-71, 7,104 yard championship golf course designed by acclaimed architect Bobby Weed and World Golf Hall of Famer Raymond Floyd, is commonly referred to as "desert elegance."

TPC Las Vegas is one of the few Las Vegas golf courses which offers the option for men and women to play the course from a blended tee yardage.

The course plays over 7,000 from the tips with the blue, or member's tees at 6,769 yards. The white tees are just over 6,000 yards. The men's blended tees (marked by a blue and white marker), is a mix of 9 holes from the blue members tees and the other nine from the white tees, adding up to just over 6,300 yards. The blended tees bring less forced carries into play and still offers a fair test to the mid-handicap golfer.

Why Should You Play This Course?
Honored with the 2013 Silver State Award for the best golf course in Nevada, TPC Las Vegas offers you the chance to play a championship golf course that has hosted several PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions events and is home to several PGA TOUR pros.

What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
Hole #2 dubbed "Canyon" measures 110-196 yards depending on tees.

The dramatic par 3 plays downhill toward green flanked by a barranca and protected on the right by a greenside bunker. This hole plays a bit shorter than its measured distance, so club selection is a premium.

Most Memorable Hole? Any Tips to Play It?
Hole 14 is called "Gorge-ous" for a reason. A large gorge protects the green from the front along the left side. The hole is not long, (275-365 yards) so pick a club like a long iron or hybrid to layup around 100 yards. Ideally, a drive over the left fairway bunker will give you the best approach over the cavernous arroyo.

Must Have Dish or Drink after the round?
The TPC Grille offers Southwest-inspired creations along with panoramic views of Red Rock Canyon and the course's 18th fairway. Maybe that's why it's considered the best-kept secret in Summerlin.

Golfers rave about our build your own burger. Select your patty (beef, chicken or veggie) and all the fixings from cheese, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, hatch green chili, jalapeno, guacamole, avocado, bacon, and a fried egg.

For the traveling golfer, any lodging onsite or partner with any area hotels?
